Baseball Season

I am so happy that baseball season is so to be starting!

Detroit Tigers have their season opener and home opener on Thursday April 5th, 2012.

Starting on Sunday April 1st until Thursday April 5th I am going to have a little contest each day. It will have to do with Detroit Tigers or baseball. Don't worry if you don't know anything about either, the questions will be easy enough where you don't need to.

So tell you friends, your family, your neighbors, and don't forget to tell your mailman.

See you April 1st!

Day 94 & 95: Taping Joints

I spent most of the weekend working...not just at my normal job that I but at home. Oh and getting engaged in case you didn't hear that news.

I got all of the joints taped in the master bedroom...I feel like this has been a never ending project. But then again I have very little time to work on the house (I only go to school full time and work at least 40 hours a week.)

I started covering the screw holes before I remembered to take some pictures...

Looks so pretty.

The nice ladder Big-D bought me because he was tired of me almost falling off the stool on top of a bucket/chair.

I bet your asking yourself "Lyndsey, why is your drywall tape blue?"

There is this amazing product out there called self adhesive drywall tape. I am going to call it the best product maybe ever invented, that and the light bulb and indoor plumbing. I had read up on how to tape up the joints and I was really nervous about doing it myself because well with the paper tape its really easy to get wrinkles or bubbles in the tape. With this amazing stuff it sticks itself to the wall and all I had to do was run my hand over it to smooth it out and make sure it was sticking to the drywall. Probably saved me several hours of work since I was able to tape the whole room in like 3 or 4 hours.

Today I spent the few hours that I have between Big-D getting home from work and when I get home from class, working on mudding the drywall. In about two hours I used a bucket of drywall compound (I only got one bucket I thought that would be enough since I was only doing one room) and got about half of the room done. Big-D was impressed. Then we had to make a trip to Lowe's, I love Lowe's, I wish they would put one in the nearby town so I didn't have to drive a half hour to get there. Anyways, I had all intentions of coming home and working on the drywall so more but I fell asleep on the drive there and on the way home and by the time I got home all I wanted to do was sleep.

Also while we were at Lowe's I showed Big-D these amazing tiles that look like wood and he loves them just as much as I do...but I got a lot of work to do before we start messing with the floors.

Hopefully will have the first layer of drywall mud done by tomorrow night so that way I will be able to apply a second layer. Really hoping to be able to start painting this weekend.

He Went to Jareds...

I originally was planning on posting about the fact that I spent the last two days taping drywall but you guys will have to wait to hear about that story because I have better news!!

It's official...

Here's how it went down. I was standing at my computer and he was kept putting his head on my shoulder and well I wasn't really in the mood to be bothered; I was in the I need my space mood. After I disclosed this information he walked back to the living room only to return after a few minutes.

He then placed a card that only said "I love you more" in front of me. We don't really argue about the whole who loves who more thing cause I usually just say "Not possible". I flipped over the card and it was Jared's business card.

His response to my not so excitement was "Aren't you happy?"

Of course at this point I am was working on taping the drywall joints...

I responded "I'd be happier with the ring."

I could tell that he was slightly irritated with my lack of excitement. He was sitting there in what I would call his grumpy mood, so I did what I usually do when he's in his grumpy mood...I tackled him and tried to cheer him up.

He then asked if I wanted to see the ring and I answered with a "I don't think it's here", because let's be honest here I did look and I looked at his house and if it was at my house I would have found it.

He answered with a "Well your laying on it." So I literally got up and checked under the exact spot I was laying on, thinking how the hell did I miss seeing a diamond ring sitting on a blue couch. He laughed at me, and then told me to look under the couch. I felt like an idiot.

It was a totally random (or at least seemed random) proposal but totally perfect because we aren't romantic people at all.

After he proposed I politely asked if I could go back to my drywall job and he answered "You and your damn drywall...".

Opps...

I broke the house!

All I wanted to do was open the window to let some cool air in.

Wedding/Honeymoon Fund

I have for a while been saving our change in little mason jars in the cabinet and my friend Mike keeps telling me about these things called banks...has anyone else every heard of these so called banks?

Now no one come break into my house there really isn't that much money in the jars and I do use a bank.

There are three jars in the cabinet. One is the roof fund, the second is the wedding fund and the third (which contains all pennies) is the honeymoon jar.

Then for Christmas, Future Sister-in-Law, go me a really cute piggy bank. Now I should explain that I love pigs and in turn I love piggy banks. Now this really cute piggy banks sits above the mason jars but has no money in it. So one day I thought I should turn that into the wedding fund piggy bank but then changed my mind because it was to pretty to "wreck" by writing "Wedding Fund" on it.

Now I am back to thinking about this because let's be honest here it sounds like a much funner topic to think about then the Thermodynamics test I have to take in a half hour. I know I know such a good college student over here (Mom please don't yell at me, I did a lot of studying last night).

I know I want to be able to write "Wedding Fund" on it, but I can't decide if I should chalkboard paint so that way I can change the title of the piggy bank after the wedding or if I should use stencils or stickers. I also thought it would be fun to do something fun like attaching rings to the top (see below) or even a cake topper.

My plan is to pay for most of our honeymoon, we'd love to go on a cruise to Alaska, with pennies. I know it sounds crazy, I have been saving our pennies for a while now and I have one of those electronic counting banks and we are at $20...I think we have a long ways to go.

So I would like to make a piggy bank for the "Honeymoon Fund" as well. I have no idea what do for that one though. I think it would be cool to include something that has to do with Alaska, maybe a Grizzly Bear or a Polar Bear. Do Polar Bears live in Alaska?

Anyways, I best be getting back to studying for a few more minutes before my test.
