Houston, we have a problem.

I hope everyone had a much better weekend then I did....

It rained for four straight days, in the 24 hours between Thursday morning and Friday morning we got 9 inches of rain.

Here is what I came home to on Friday...

Here is what I came home to on Saturday...

More has fallen down, but I am to depressed to take more pictures of it. To make all things better he had no idea that there was water damage in the living room. It has never leaked once. I mean I knew the roof was bad but the leak was in the office. And the BEST part is that since the roof is not covered by our insurance (since it was in such bad shape) they will not cover anything that is a result of a bad roof...just wonderful!

On top of everything else, it stopped raining on Sunday...it rained this morning (Monday) and suppose to be thunderstorms tomorrow (Tuesday).

Here is how far they have gotten on the roof.

The shingles and other stuff have been sitting in the driveway since last Tuesday, it has also be raining since last Tuesday.

I got about a dozen phone calls from the delivery person trying to find our house. It's a lot of fun living down a road that doesn't have a street sign.  To make her feel better I told her I have driven by a road a million times. Of course I did give her some really good land marks but I don't think she really listened.

We have a nice pretty trailer in the driveway as well.

Look even a sign! ( I really love Lowe's I will probably frame that sign.)

Some day these wonderful people from Lowe's will be able to come and actually start and finish my roof. Then I get to go through all of the fun of fixing the living room ceiling.

Hope you all had a better weekend then I did. Anyone get crazy amounts of rain? Is it still raining?

The 28 Out Perfect Game

Day two giveaway: $20 gift Lowe's!!!

A perfect game occurs when a pitcher gets 27 outs in a row without a single batter reaching base.

Now I bet you are wondering well if you only need 27 outs then how can there be a 28 out perfect game.

June 2, 2010 is a day that will forever change Detroit Tigers baseball and Armando Galarraga life. It was the day that pitcher Armando Galarraga threw a the Imperfect Perfect game. He got the 27th out but the first base umpire said the batter was safe; it was a blown call that would cost Galarraga his perfect game. Galarraga would return to the mound to get his 28th out of the game.

The best part was instead of arguing with the umpire, Galarraga did the best thing that any professional athelete could do. He returned to the mound to finish his job. He walked away from the first base bag with a smile of disbelief. While first basemen, Miguel Cabrera, argued with the umpire. The umpire would later apologize to Galagarra for the miss call, Galagarra got his Corvette (you get a Corvette for throwing a perfect game) and will go down as the only pitcher to throw a 28 out perfect game.

I do have a point to this rambling and will get to that in just a second.

Okay, so here it is, the part that y'all have been waiting for so patiently.

In order to enter the contest to win the Lowe's gift card all you have to do is say whether the batter (guy in gray) is safe or not?

Leave you decision in the comments and you are automatically entered.

Please only one entry per person.

A winner will randomly be selected on April 3rd.

Day 94 & 95: Taping Joints

I spent most of the weekend working...not just at my normal job that I but at home. Oh and getting engaged in case you didn't hear that news.

I got all of the joints taped in the master bedroom...I feel like this has been a never ending project. But then again I have very little time to work on the house (I only go to school full time and work at least 40 hours a week.)

I started covering the screw holes before I remembered to take some pictures...

Looks so pretty.

The nice ladder Big-D bought me because he was tired of me almost falling off the stool on top of a bucket/chair.

I bet your asking yourself "Lyndsey, why is your drywall tape blue?"

There is this amazing product out there called self adhesive drywall tape. I am going to call it the best product maybe ever invented, that and the light bulb and indoor plumbing. I had read up on how to tape up the joints and I was really nervous about doing it myself because well with the paper tape its really easy to get wrinkles or bubbles in the tape. With this amazing stuff it sticks itself to the wall and all I had to do was run my hand over it to smooth it out and make sure it was sticking to the drywall. Probably saved me several hours of work since I was able to tape the whole room in like 3 or 4 hours.

Today I spent the few hours that I have between Big-D getting home from work and when I get home from class, working on mudding the drywall. In about two hours I used a bucket of drywall compound (I only got one bucket I thought that would be enough since I was only doing one room) and got about half of the room done. Big-D was impressed. Then we had to make a trip to Lowe's, I love Lowe's, I wish they would put one in the nearby town so I didn't have to drive a half hour to get there. Anyways, I had all intentions of coming home and working on the drywall so more but I fell asleep on the drive there and on the way home and by the time I got home all I wanted to do was sleep.

Also while we were at Lowe's I showed Big-D these amazing tiles that look like wood and he loves them just as much as I do...but I got a lot of work to do before we start messing with the floors.

Hopefully will have the first layer of drywall mud done by tomorrow night so that way I will be able to apply a second layer. Really hoping to be able to start painting this weekend.

Day 58: Someday I will again sleep in my bed

I sit here aching all over. Why you may ask?

Mainly because we have been sleeping on the futon in the living room because our bed is leaning up against the wall.  I feel so old; my hips hurt, my shoulder is screwed up again (and holding up drywall doesn't help any matters) and just to mix it up my knee is always hurting.

But the drywall project will be done soon. We have hit so many problems while trying to put up new drywall and my favorite one to talk about is the fact that we have a room full of unlevel walls. Don't be concerned my foundation is fine and the floors are level, the walls are just messed up.

We have two walls completed, the closet completed and the area above the second window completed. Having two crooked walls have made this process very long. Hoping to complete the drywall this weekend so I can start taping the joints and be ready to pain real soon.

May or may not happen because I have a test in Thermodynamics and Mathematical Methods for Engineers next week and I may spend the week studying. (I just wanted to make myself sound smart there for a minute sorry.)

Valentine's Day Giveaway

Since I appreciate all the readers that read my nonsense and I LOVE Lowe's I am giving away a $25.00 gift card to Lowe's to two lucky winners.

Valentine's Day is all about love and by the looks of my credit card history it looks like I love Lowe's alot. I mean I am there at least once a week, sometimes twice a week and some weeks everyday (if you think I am kidding I'm not.)

I think the only thing I don't buy from Lowe's is Big-D's tools and that's only because they don't carry that many Craftman tools and that is the brand of tools he loves. On the other hand all my tools come from Lowe's.

I bought him tools for Valentine's Day...I am working on best wife award.

Anyways back to the giveaway. All you have to is tell me about your favorite tool or tools if you have more than one and can't make up your mind. (Please only one entry per person.)

A winner will be randomly selected on Friday February 17, 2012.

(Lowe's in a whole doesn't know I exist, only the few souls at the closest Lowe's to me would know if I was to randomly disappear because their sales might decrease.)
