Special Rice Krispies

Okay there is a little story behind these Rice Krispie treats. One day I brought in a little snack for the guy that sits in the cubicle next to me; it happened to be Rice Krispie treats with melted chocolate and butterscotch on them. They weren't anything special or anything hard to make in fact waiting for the marshmallows and chips to melt is what takes so long.

But I didn't know that these were in fact special. See the guy that sits in the cubicle next to me mom passed away 25 years ago, she use to make these exact Rice Krispie treats and he hasn't had one since she passed away 25 years ago. I was glad to bring back the wonderful memories.

Now well all have probably made the recipe on the back/side of the box of Rice Krispies, but I will give it to you anyways.

Ingredients:
  • 6 Cups of Rice Krispies
  • 1 bag of the large marshmallows
  • 3 Tablespoons of butter
  • 1 (2 cups) bag of semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 (1 cup) bag of butterscotch chips
Directions:
  • Melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add marshmallows and melt until smooth, stirring often.
  • Mix marshmallows into rice krispies until covered.
  • Spray a pan with nonstick spray and evenly spread rice kripsie.
  • Melt chocolate chips and butterscotch over low-medium heat, stirring often.
  • Spread chocolate mixture over the rice krispies.
  • Place in refridgerator until chocolate layer is hard.
Enjoy,

Daily Dog Challenge: 2nd Edition

Wow I have been way behind of these...opps. I guess it doesn't help that I have been crazy busy at home, trying to keep the little punk from eating my house and that I have been working crazy amounts because people are taking vacations. Anyways here are days two through four for the Daily Dog Challenge.

Day Two: Tags

Take a picture of your dog's ID tags. It can be on or off the dog, as artsy or journalistic as you'd like!

Day Three: At Attention

Experiment with odd noises, treats and toys to get a photo of your dog that show an intense, interested or extremely cure expression.

Day Four: Finally Friday

We all look forward to the weekend or our time off, and we all have our ideas about how to spend that time. What is your dog's idea of a perfect Friday night?

Little bit older picture (from when I first started this project but never uploaded any pictures) but I am pretty sure his perfect Friday night it cuddling in bed with his mommy.

Hank's Screw Gun

Hank loves to help us around the us with all of the remodeling going on.

"Sorry dad."

Big-D sometimes forgets that if you leave it on the ground and don't close the baby gate its fair game and if he is being cute I am more than likely going to take pictures of him before I stop him.

Grandma's Chicken Noodle Soup

Kind of, I cheated on the noodles but still got the same kind she used. Thanks dad for answering a completely random question to your confused child standing in the noodle section at 10PM.

This weekend I was missing my grandma and her homemade chicken noodle soup. I haven't made chicken noodle soup since she passed away in February. She was the one that taught me how to make the amazing dumplings. Of course as she got older, I was the one that would come over to make them for her because couldn't.

I use to think that chicken noodle soup was hard to make but really it isn't. I think the hardest part is making the noodles, so basically if you cheat with store bought noodles it's really not hard at all.

Basically, boil some chicken in chicken stock (you can either make your own or buy it from the store). Once the chicken is cooked I tear it into bite sizes pieces but one could cut it up if they wanted too. Add your choice of vegetables, I usually use celery, carrots and onion. Bring to a boil and add your choice of noodles. In my cheat version I used extra wide No-Yokes and cook until the noodles are tender.

There you go, you have chicken noodle soup. I always cook extras so I can freeze some and have it on a rainy day that I don't feel like cooking.

Houston, we have a problem.

I hope everyone had a much better weekend then I did....

It rained for four straight days, in the 24 hours between Thursday morning and Friday morning we got 9 inches of rain.

Here is what I came home to on Friday...

Here is what I came home to on Saturday...

More has fallen down, but I am to depressed to take more pictures of it. To make all things better he had no idea that there was water damage in the living room. It has never leaked once. I mean I knew the roof was bad but the leak was in the office. And the BEST part is that since the roof is not covered by our insurance (since it was in such bad shape) they will not cover anything that is a result of a bad roof...just wonderful!

On top of everything else, it stopped raining on Sunday...it rained this morning (Monday) and suppose to be thunderstorms tomorrow (Tuesday).

Here is how far they have gotten on the roof.

The shingles and other stuff have been sitting in the driveway since last Tuesday, it has also be raining since last Tuesday.

I got about a dozen phone calls from the delivery person trying to find our house. It's a lot of fun living down a road that doesn't have a street sign.  To make her feel better I told her I have driven by a road a million times. Of course I did give her some really good land marks but I don't think she really listened.

We have a nice pretty trailer in the driveway as well.

Look even a sign! ( I really love Lowe's I will probably frame that sign.)

Some day these wonderful people from Lowe's will be able to come and actually start and finish my roof. Then I get to go through all of the fun of fixing the living room ceiling.

Hope you all had a better weekend then I did. Anyone get crazy amounts of rain? Is it still raining?

Roof: Before

I decided to suck it up and post before pictures of the roof. I like looking at the before and afters.

However, it's been raining for the last 2 days and is going to continue to rain through the weekend...so much for having a new roof by Sunday night.

That tree on the side of the house had limbs resting on the roof and on really windy days in the winter time you could hear them scrap across the roof. It was rather scary to listen too.

Don't judge how rough the roof looks and the missing fascia.

Sometimes I Try To Be Funny

and most of the time I fail.

For instance today, I decided to turn the heat on in the car higher than it was outside.

Big-D didn't laugh then I cried.

New Roof...Yay

We will finally be getting our new roof put on. They are going to start on this Friday and he even asked if it was alright if they worked through the weekend.

Hopefully, Sunday night I will have a brand new roof!!!

I might do before pictures of the roof ut it is rather embarrassing on how bad the roof really is.

On another note, water company called me to tell me that they will be shutting off our water because they are changing the fire hydrant out in front of the house. He said I hope it won't be a big inconvenience and it will be off from 8am to 3pm. I wanted to say that it would actually be a huge inconvenience since I will be home all day but I said that it was fine.

Have fun Lowe's delivery men, that will be bring shingles tomorrow morning, in the mud; I can't wait for the mud....grrr living on a dirt road.

DISHWASHER!!!

I finally installed the "new" dishwasher that has been sitting in our garage since two days after we moved in back in December...I've been wanting to put it in but I just never managed to get around to it. I found what I call easier projects to do first. I didn't and still don't know a thing about plumbing so I was a little nervous about it and was totally winging it while installing the dishwasher. After four different trips to Lowe's and two days of cursing at the dishwasher, we finally got it done.

Where the old dishwasher was, for some odd reason the old owners had it across from the sink. We removed the set of drawers next the sink so that the "new" dishwasher could be put next to the sink.

Taking the old dishwasher out to the garage.

Had to instal a new outlet for the dishwasher. That copper supply line end up having to be replaced because it was cracked and leaked causing me to flood the kitchen when I used the dishwasher for the first time.

Installing some of the plumbing that was needed, new supply line but the drain line couldn't be put in because we bought the wrong one...opps. Didn't take a picture of all the plumbing set up.

New dishwasher all ready to go, we decided to leave the dishwasher out for a test run in case there was a leak.

Stella decided to help us out a little bit with doing the dishes.

Hank was to tired to help us.

So I kind of flooded the kitchen, just a little bit. Of course we didn't have any towels that were dry (I was doing a load of towels in the washer) when the flood occurred so I had to use all of the dish clothes and wash clothes I could find.

I am happy to inform you all that I haven't hand washed dishes, other than rinsing, it over a week and I am very happy about this.

Silver Lake Sand Dunes: Hank Edition

This post actually have nothing very little to do about trucks. This was our first "vacation" with the Hanky Panky. I had a lot fun playing on the beach, getting lots of sleep and driving around in the sand dunes with this little boy as my co-pilot.

He pretty much slept all the time while I was driving, usually on my lap. The sister in laws even offered a couple of times to drive around with me to hold him and when they were there in the truck (sitting in his seat) he was sleeping on my lap.

Here are just a few of my favorite Hank pictures from the trip.

I honestly have no clue what he was doing in this picture but I think it might of involved his "bird" (it is underneath him for those that can't see it).

I love his intense stares, he wins the staring contests all the time.

Watching some trucks go by. He had never jumped out of the truck before with the window all the way down...well guess who learned how to jump out of the truck via the window.

He was an absolute riot to watch dig holes on the beach. He would seriously bark and run around his hole having a grand ole time. We had several people stop by and see his hole and to watch him play.

It was a rather large hole; it was up to my knee in depth.

I think he ate a lot of sand over the weekend from digging.  Along with to much people food, grrr relatives that give my dog to much people food but oh well it was vacation.

When he wasn't digging a hole or playing in the lake, he also learned how to swim during the trip, he was sunbathing.

Must protect my hole.

Chillin' the truck with dad, while mom took lots of pictures.

Hank didn't even react to the loud trucks going by, he would occasionally turn his head when a dirt bike went by but I think he was looking for Cousin in law Josh to be honest.

It was definately a fun trip and I can't wait to have more camping trips with him.
